When Neil Curry became involved with the newly established GCBR – the Gouritz Cluster Biosphere Reserve - which was eventually recognized by UNESCO, as the largest biosphere reserve in South Africa - covering virtually the whole of the Little Karoo, with Calitzdorp more or less at its centre - making a film about it was, as they say, a no-brainer!
The message was to show how the community could deal with the issues of farming, industry and eco-tourism, in an ecologically rich but water-scarce area. The title of the film: “It’s Everybody’s Business”, reflects this core message.
The second film: “Survival of the Fattest” - with its cheeky nod to Charles Darwin - was inspired by a slide presentation by a good friend Of Neil, Frans Noltee. Frans is an internationally acknowledged expert on succule…
